Spot On Excavations digs trenches, pits, footings and small civil works with compact excavators, a track loader and tippers, from North Richmond, NSW, across the Hawkesbury, Penrith and Western Sydney. Our vacuum trucks work alongside the excavators where the ground holds live services.
Excavation that supports underground work
Most of our digging serves the underground jobs we are known for. Every directional bore needs an entry pit and an exit pit, every conduit run needs pits at the ends, and every pipe pull needs a trench or a launch area. We dig those ourselves, so the people who plan the bore are the people who dig its pits. We also take on straightforward excavation for builders, farms and contractors in the Hawkesbury and Western Sydney.
What we dig
- Trenches for pipe, conduit and cable, laid and backfilled to the specification.
- Entry and exit pits for horizontal directional drilling, and pits for telecommunications and electrical conduit, as described under pipe and conduit installation.
- Footings and small civil works, such as pads, drainage runs and service connections.
- Site cleanup and spoil removal after pipework, with spoil loaded to our tippers and taken away or stockpiled as agreed.
Tight access and sensitive ground
Compact excavators suit backyards, narrow verges, farm gates and sites where a larger machine would damage what it is meant to protect. Where the ground holds buried services, we expose them first by vacuum excavation or potholing and then dig around what we have found. That order protects the services and the programme.
Can one contractor dig, drill and vacuum excavate on the same job?
Yes. Because the excavators, the vacuum trucks and the drill rigs are all ours, a job does not wait on three different contractors to turn up. We can pothole the crossing, dig the pits, drill the bore, pull the pipe and backfill, then clean up, with one point of contact and one set of safety paperwork. For clients who only need the digging, we price it on its own.

Questions
Excavation and pit questions
Do you do general excavation as well as drilling support?
Yes, within the scope above: trenches, pits, footings, small civil and cleanup. We are not a bulk earthworks contractor, so large cut-and-fill jobs are better suited to a bigger fleet.
Can you dig near existing services?
Yes. We expose services with a vacuum truck before excavators work nearby. The vac method is described under vacuum excavation.
Can you break rock or hard ground?
The Yanmar ViO30-6B carries an Okada hydraulic hammer for localised breaking, such as pit areas. Large rock cuttings are outside what compact plant suits.
Will you remove the spoil?
We can load spoil to our tippers and take it away or stockpile it, as agreed before the job. Classification and disposal destination need to be agreed up front.
Do you work for head contractors?
Yes, for head contractors as well as direct clients. Tell us what is already on site, including who is arranging traffic control, and we will confirm the split of work in the quote.
Which areas do you cover?
The Hawkesbury, Penrith and Western Sydney are the core. We also travel to the ACT and the South Coast.
